Sweet Home

This installation was part of Dumbo Arts Festival 2008, Brooklyn

This project was created during my third year of being away from my home country, and I am in the process of rethinking the meaning of “home” and belonging in a foreign society. This installation was inspired by the forms of bee-hive and cocoon which both represent a sense of home and protection. I utilized pasta, sugar, and flour to build this biodegradable bee-hive sculpture, and lit it up at night to provide warmth and food for insects, animals, or even human beings. Through the gesture of sharing and embracing the new surroundings, the question of “the meaning of home” soon will find its answer.
