This project involves questioning the relationship between the body’s interior and exterior and between permanency and decay. Because of my personal illnesses and childhood experiences with death, the mysterious workings of the body’s organs deeply affect my imagination. I began by casting animal offal and meat (pig and cow stomachs and tongues) to construct objects that resemble human body parts. The latex creates a kind of translucent skin with animal’s hair that suggests communication between the interior and exterior body.
